About
Ernest is a self-trained woodworker with over 5 years of experience, and 2 years in business. From a means to impress his partner to hobby to obsession to career and ultimately entrepreneurship, his passion led him to a bench in the Big Shop at Alameda Point Studios. Which is located on the former Alameda Naval Air Station in Alameda, California.
Mission
Custom woodworking is a collaborative & detail oriented endeavor. From conceptual conversation to 3D render to wood and finish samples, Ernest draws on his many years of woodworking experience, his many years in the hospitality business, and his bachelor’s in psychology to ensure he understands your needs and expectations.
Vision
In late 2023, he plans on pivoting his wood working business from the service of custom wood working to quick ship and short lead-time home furnishings that are sustainable and environmentally conscientious while seeking to educate consumers about different practices in wood product manufacturing. The Big Shop
The Big Shop is an 8000 sq/ft space with industrial grade equipment: one vertical and one horizontal panel saw, three table saws, band saw, horizontal bandsaw (resaw), 24” planer, 16” jointer, 36” wide belt sander, 60” edge sander, several lathes, heavy power and air, large and small vacuum presses, bridge crane, forklift and forklift access, two-bay spray booth and heated drying room. There’s hardly anything that can't be made in there.
